ABOUT

Jennifer Lee Abrantes is an abstract artist based in Lorraine, Quebec. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education from Concordia University. Her connection to art began in early childhood, where drawing was a constant presence in her daily life. By the age of fourteen, she had already begun shaping her artistic identity, creating the name “JLeeA,” which she continues to carry into her professional practice.
From an early age, she was drawn to painting with thick, tactile layers, seeking not only to see her work but to feel it. This sensibility remains at the core of her practice today, guiding her exploration of texture, material, and surface. After several years devoted to professional pursuits outside the arts, she returned to painting in 2023, reestablishing her practice and renewing her commitment to artistic exploration. Balancing her life as a mother and a wife with her artistic career, she maintains a dedicated studio practice rooted in both discipline and curiosity.
Working primarily with acrylic paint and resin, she creates compositions that emphasize depth, movement, and physical presence. JLeeA’s work investigates themes of emotion, transformation, and self-discovery through abstraction and textural techniques. While her work varies in size, she is often drawn to larger formats that allow for a more immersive visual and sensory experience.
Through her work, JLeeA invites viewers not only to see her paintings, but to feel them, fostering a deeper emotional connection and encouraging personal interpretation.
